SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates activities of organization to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of
operations and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate
supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to the following:
Plans, develops and implements organization policies and goals and corporate objectives as
approved by the Board of Directors.
Provides written and oral reports to the Board of Directors, which includes but not limited to;
financial, legal, regulatory, safety, and personnel.
Coordinates activities of divisions or departments such as operating, manufacturing, planning, sales,
and maintenance, to effect operational efficiency and economy.
Directs and coordinates promotion of products manufactured or services performed to develop new
markets, increase share of market, and obtain competitive position in industry.
Analyzes division or department budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made,
and allocates operating budget.
Confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity, operating, and sales reports to
determine changes in programs or operations required.
Responsible for maintaining clean facilities, and complying with all state and federal regulations
pertaining to a safe workplace, housekeeping, and all activities that require regulation compliance
and document as required.
Attends training and safety meetings and other meetings, which have operational benefits.
Directs preparation of directives to division or department administrator outlining policy, program,
or operations changes to be implemented.
Performs all duties within the elevator as needed.
Loads and unloads trucks as required.
Ensure training of all cooperative personnel.
Provide excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations, responding
promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints and concerns immediately, and
meeting commitments.
Maintain and promote safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting
requirements.
Promotes organization in community activities, industry, manufacturing or trade associations.
Serve or recommend a board member for all joint ventures of which cooperative participates in.
Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed by the Board of Directors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The General Manager supervises subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 20 to 30 employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable
laws. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and
directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing and
resolving complaints and problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or with three to five years of general
manager or departmental manager. This position requires excellent computer operation skills. Willing
to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job related education
requirements or opportunities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Commercial Drivers License Preferd
1A Applicator License preferred.
Grain Grading License required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write
simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group
situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, and individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Payroll
systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software and Inventory software.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this Job,
the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather

occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock
and explosives. The noise level in this work environment usually moderate. Employees must understand

NOTE: Specifically this job entails working in and around a grain elevator; the climbing of ladders, and
working in high and confined spaces. The environment is frequently dusty with extreme weather
conditions ranging from high heat to cold and wet condition common. It includes functions associated
with operation of a grain storage elevator that includes fumigation and inspection of stored grain.
